    Organ-specific cancer centers
  • The National Cancer Center is distinguished from other centers by our organizational structure, which includes organ-specific centers that focus on the 10 most common cancers in Korea. Unlike the traditional medical system that emphasizes the autonomy of each medical and surgical department, our organization epitomizes ¡°collaborative medicine¡± in that medical staff from every medical specialty work together to help find the best option for each patient.
    Putting patients first
  • Staffed by cancer specialists ranging from medical, surgical, radiological oncologists to oncology nurses, technologists, and other support staff, each center tries to provide each patient with the best care by providing patients with coordinated consultations and treatments. This system was designed to maximize customer satisfaction through a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer.
Playing a leading role in the development and dissemination of standard cancer-care guidelines in Korea
  • The National Cancer Center has established a new system to facilitate rapid translation of basic discoveries made at the National Cancer Center Research Institute into promising clinical interventions for patients with cancer by encouraging the hospital¡¯s 60 clinical staff to engage in research activities. The National Cancer Center Hospital also plays a coordinating role as a leading center for developing and disseminating evidence-based standards of cancer care guidelines in Korea. It was designated as the 'Clinical Research Center for Solid Tumors' by the Ministry of Health & Welfare in 2005.
